Clarinetist LeTriel White played the world premiere of Daniel Adams’s “Of Sand and Fire” for unaccompanied clarinet on the Texas Southern University Music Faculty Recital. On November 17. The recital was held in the studios of campus radio station KTSU in Houston. Adams also joined White on the recital as a percussionist in their second performance of “Quiet Exchange”, British Columbia composer Stephen Chatman’s 1970 duet for clarinet and suspended cymbals.
Other Fall 2017 Performances
Recombinant for 13-member percussion ensemble was performed on Concert 4 of the Society of Composers, Inc. Region 9 Concference on October 14 at Arizona State University (Tempe) under the direction of JB Smith.
Solstice Introspect for vibraphone trio was performed by percussionists Alexandrea Richard, Christian Swafford, and Ike Van de Vate on the October 18 concert of the University of Tennessee (Knoxville) New Music Festival and on December 4 by the University of Maryland Percussion Ensemble as part of their Fall Concert in College Park, MD.
No Baggage for percussion quartet was performed by the University of South Florida (Tampa) Percussion Ensemble under the direction of Robert McCormick on November 5 as part of the Stuart Saunders Smith at 70 Celebration.

Transitory Liaisons Daniel Adams’s Transitory Liaisons, for four bass clarinets and percussion quintet received its world premiere on Friday, July 28 at 4:30 PM as part of ClarinetFest 2017, the annual meeting of the International Clarinet Association at the Seminole Room of Double Tree Hotel Convention Center at the entrance of Universal Orlando, 5780 Major Blvd., Orlando FL Transitory Liaisons was composed for the Four New Brothers bass clarinet quartet (Stephan Vermeersch, Rocco Parisi, Sarah Watts, and Sauro Berti) and members of the University of Central Florida Percussion Ensemble. The piece was commissioned by Richard Nunemaker, Selmer Paris, Buffet Crampon, and D’Addario Woodwinds.
No Baggage No Baggage for a percussion quartet of hand-held instruments received its world premiere on the February 18 NACUSA 2017 Conference Concert held at University of The Incarnate Word, San Antonio, Texas. No Baggage was performed by the Texas State University Percussion Ensemble under the direction of Robert Lopez.

Additional 2017 Performances Coalescence Two for trumpet solo was performed by Robert Waugh on the February 24 CMS Southern Region Composers Concert, Austin Peay State University, Clarkesville, TN.
Coalescence One for drum set solo was performed by percussionist John Hill on the April 7 CMS Great Lakes Region Composers Concert at Murray State University, Murray, KY
Congruent Verses for English Horn solo at the College Music Society International Conference held at the Conservatorium of Music in Sydney, Australia on July 11. Congruent Verses was performed by oboist Andrew Nogal.
